The Congressional Institute is pleased to announce that photographs of the winning artworks from the 2013 Congressional Art Competition (CAC) are now available online. This annual bipartisan event, sponsored by the Congressional Institute, allows high school students from across the country to compete against their peers for the opportunity to win their congressional district’s art competition. The winning artwork from each participating district or territory is hung in the Cannon Tunnel for an 11-month exhibit. The winners were also invited to a reception in Washington, DC, where they had the opportunity to view their artworks on display.
This year, 421 of the 441 U.S. Congressional offices participated in the Congressional Art Competition. Representative Robert Aderholt of Alabama and Representatitve Suzanne Bonamici of Oregon served as co-chairs. The co-chairs and their respective staffs played an integral role in coordinating the competition and winner’s reception. Their diligent work and cooperation made this one of the most successful Congressional Art Competitions ever.
The Congressional Institute is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization dedicated to helping Members of Congress better serve their constituents and helping their constituents better understand the operations of the national legislature.
